SERVICE MANAGER
 
Objective
 
Automotive service managers oversee service departments at car dealerships or automotive shops. These jobs include the same work that automotive service technicians are responsible for, in addition to management duties. These tasks include training and managing his team. as well as serving as their department's main contact with dealer’s representatives. Automotive service managers also control costs within their department and create marketing plans. They must keep detailed service and inventory records. Finally, they act as a representative for the shop to clients and communicate with upper management on operations matters of his department.  

The Service Manager is responsible for running an efficient and profitable service department. He will operate the department at maximum production, controlling costs, building a loyal clientele, maintaining good employee relationships, setting and obtaining sales and profit objectives, and maintaining service records.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them
  • Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the service department
  • Attend managers’ meetings as requested
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with company regulations that affects service operations,  such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA right-to-know
  • Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all service department staff
  • Coach and train technicians on technical issues related customers’ complaints
  • Direct and schedule the activities of all department employees
  • Provide technical assistance to service team at all times
  • Conduct meetings with department employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest
  • Monitor upgrading of technicians on technical certifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree holder or an Associate in Automotive Service Management or related field
  • Knowledge in automotive technology, customer relations and industry software applications
  • Automotive training and several years of experience as a technician or Service Supervisor/Manager
  • With Technical knowledge certifications
Service Manager Qualifications
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Three years of experience in an auto repair facility
  • Strong communication skills to work with customers, suppliers, upper management and employees
  • Accounting skills in order to run a profitable department
  • Marketing knowledge to build a solid clientele
  • Technical and mechanical skills
  • Has knowledge in the business industry
  • Ability to spend long days on their feet
  • Detail-oriented trouble-shooting skills needed to make unusual diagnoses
  • Excellent communication, supervisory, and managerial skills
  • Ability to operate the department at a profit according to dealership guidelines
  • Applicant must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and with valid driver’s license
Qualifications
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Three years of experience in an auto repair facility/auto dealership
  • Bachelor’s degree holder
  • Excellent communication, supervisory, and managerial skills
  • Ability to operate the department at a profit according to dealership guidelines
  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and with valid driver license
  • Has attended various technical trainings
Service Manager Qualifications
  • More than two years of supervisory experience in automotive industry or auto repair facility/auto dealership
  • Bachelor's degree holder or its equivalent
  • With supervisory and managerial skills
  • Strong communication skills to work with customers, suppliers, upper management and employees
  • Ability to operate the department at a profit according to dealership guidelines
  • Accounting skills in order to run a profitable department
  • Marketing knowledge to build a solid clientele
  • With  technical and mechanical skills
  • Has knowledge in the business industry & has attended various technical trainings
  • Ability to spend long days on their feet
